Scheduling MacPorts updates

I like to stay pretty current with ports - generally it avoids Big Update Day where you realise you need a 0.0.0.0.0.1 update of something but most of the dependencies have seen several man-years of development in the mean time. Here is a launchd script to drop in /Library/LaunchDaemons (I called it org.macports.port-selfupdate.plist):

First Post

Finally got round to getting...

  • a development server
  • a blog domain name (still can't decide if it's kinda cool or just really pretentious, but then just ~having~ a blog probably makes it lean toward the latter...)
  • enough free time to install the server and configure Mephisto

The blog is running on a cheap desktop PC behind a crappy SafeCom router, although to be fair, that hasn't crashed for a few months now. Usually, regular power-cycling is required to maintain any sort of internet connection. So expect two-nines uptime at best.

Currently I'm in the planning stages of starting a business, and I've hardly even had chance to look at the preliminary technical issues, so the chance of many articles appearing any time soon on this site are pretty slim.
